Hungarian cuisine

The most popular and well-known dishes of Hungarian cuisine are prepared in our restaurant based on family recipes spanning several generations. The flavors of our kitchen take our guests back to the tastes of their childhood, when our mothers and grandmothers really put their heart and soul into food.

Intimate atmosphere

Our restaurant with an intimate atmosphere welcomes its guests with a seasonally changing menu, specialties of Hungarian and international cuisine, and a wine list carefully compiled by a sommelier (matching the dishes on the menu).

Gatherings

Our restaurant is excellent for family and friend gatherings (weddings, christenings, birthdays, company events, parties). Providing the back kitchen from our restaurant, our company has enough equipment for nearly 500-600 people.

Our story

János Zila opened his first store in Kőbánya in 1977, which at first operated as a steakhouse, buffet-snack bar, and then, with the passing of the years and the opportunities that arose, turned into a small restaurant. The restaurant operates as a family business. The father’s legacy is carried on by his children, the restaurant is run by Zila Ildikó, while the kitchen is run by Csaba Zila.

The restaurant got its current form during the reconstruction completed in 2004. With the help of the interior designers and Jenő Ungváry, a friend of the family, we managed to provide a little insight into the cozy world of the “old Kőbánya”. This is proven by the postcards, maps, and street scenes, which help the visitor to fall back to the happy peaceful times of the 1920s and 1930s.

The restaurant has hosted several public figures, well-known politicians, and leaders, and provided catering at several prominent locations, such as the Museum of Applied Arts, the Kiscelli Museum and the Gellért Baths.

About the Family

János Zila

Founder

János Zila our father, was born a true restaurateur. He created and built his restaurant in 1977 with his family.

Ildikó Zila

Restaurant Chief

As a matter of his heart, he carries on his father’s legacy and nurtures the Köbány heritage, hospitality is in his blood, and this can be felt by everyone who enters the restaurant.

Csaba Zila

Head Chef

Csaba’s passion is Hungarian cuisine, he is a truly creative Chef who pours all his love into his dishes.
